While the Church Slept the Devil Was Awake All Night
“Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.”
Have you ever fallen into deep sleep before? When you woke up did you know what transpired while you were asleep?
We often think time stood still while we slept but no, things happened when we were in deep sleep. Cars passed by, the insects were chirping, people passed by, a lot happened and all we didn’t notice because we were asleep.
The Church is going through the same predicament as we speak. Sadly the Church is in a very deep sleep and we don’t actually know what can wake her up.
Satan is now seeking to hold God’s people in a state of inactivity, to keep them from acting their part in spreading the truth, that they may at last be weighed in the balance and found wanting.—Testimonies for the Church 1:260. ChS 37.3
This lack of activity and earnestness in the cause of God is dreadful. This death stupor is from Satan.—Testimonies for the Church 1:260, 261. ChS 81.2
While the Church has slept, Satan and his agents are seeking to destroy what God passed through His servants to build.
The church has failed God in waking up the lukewarm sheep. All are like dumb dogs. Like drunkard who doesn’t know his left or right. One evident that reveals the Church is lacking spiritual growth is the love of the world and social gospel. Present truth prickles the heart and it exposes the deed of the carnal mind but sadly the Church hates present truth.
They prefer to hear smooth sugar coated sermon than to hear the strait testimony. The church has failed God in accomplishing the mission of feeding the sheep in due season.
2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; BE INSTANT IN SEASON, OUT OF SEASON; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
THE CHURCH HAS FAILED GOD IN DRESS REFORM. While the church slept the devil brought in heinous customs which shouldn’t have even been among the remnant. I will always say this that God doesn’t like women wearing trousers. The world will justify this but what of you who want to meet Jesus in peace? Your motives must be pure so that you can do right judgement in all affairs of life.
Tight jeans, mini skirts, revealing clothes all should not be among God commandment keeping people. The church has failed God in rebuking this flood of evil sweeping into the remnant Church but all hope is not lost.
“Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.”
The Church has failed God in health reform. While the church slept Satan brought in the supposition that Ellen G White counsels are not needed and its optional. This trend of deception has even led intellectuals and religious stars into the wrong direction. Meat eating is dangerous for our health but the church has failed God in warning the people about this. Many of our disease is caused by animal consumption. Read Counsels on Diet and Food carefully and you’ll know meat eating at this time of earth history is dishonour to God.
Subsisting on the Flesh Of DEAD ANIMALS is a gross way of living, and as a people, we should be working a change, a reform, teaching the people that there are healthful preparations of food that will give them more strength, and better preserve their health, than meat. • Counsels on Diet and Foods, Page 401
At this stage of the earth’s history meat-eating is DISHONORING to God. • BTS, July 1, 1902 par. 3
The Church has failed God in giving the trumpet a certain sound.
While the church slept and preaching peace, the Sunday law movement is moving in darkness.
I am filled with sadness when I look at our condition now. The work we’ve been given to do we have discarded and we’re doing our own things and going our own ways.
The Church has failed God! The Church has fallen into Deep sleep. Oh that we’ll wake up and see our condition before it’s too late!!
“Heir of the kingdom, O why dost thou slumber? Why art thou sleeping so near thy blest home? Wake thee, arouse thee, and gird on thine armor, Speed, for the moments are hurrying on.”-SDAH 594
I am filled with sadness when I think of our condition as a people. The Lord has not closed heaven to us, but our own course of continual backsliding has separated us from God. • Testimonies for the Church 5:217.1
The Call to Awake
The work is fast closing up, and on every side wickedness is increasing. We have but a short time in which to work. Let us awake from spiritual slumber, and consecrate all that we have and are to the Lord. His Spirit will abide with true missionaries, furnishing them with power for service.—The Southern Watchman, April 9, 1903. ChS 80.10
Wake up, brethren and sisters, wake up. Sleep no longer. “Why stand ye here all the day idle?” Jesus calls you, saying, “Go work today in My vineyard.” Whoever has received the Holy Spirit, will make it manifest; for all his powers will be employed in the most active service. All who actually receive Christ by faith, work. They feel the burden of souls. God now calls upon every one who has a knowledge of the truth, who is a depositary of sacred truth, to arise and impart the light of heaven to others.—The Review and Herald, December 5, 1893. ChS 80.11
Wake up, brethren; for your own soul’s sake, wake up. Without the grace of Christ you can do nothing. Work while you can.—The Southern Watchman, July 17, 1906. ChS 80.12
If our eyes could be open to discern the fallen angels at work with those who feel at ease and consider themselves safe, we would not feel so secure. Evil angels are upon our track every moment.—Testimonies for the Church 1:302. ChS 81.1
God calls upon all, both preachers and people, to awake. All heaven is astir. The scenes of earth’s history are fast closing. We are amid the perils of the last days. Greater perils are before us, and yet we are not awake. This lack of activity and earnestness in the cause of God is dreadful. This death stupor is from Satan.—Testimonies for the Church 1:260, 261. ChS 81.2
What shall I say to arouse the remnant people of God? I was shown that dreadful scenes are before us; Satan and his angels are bringing all their powers to bear upon God’s people. He knows that if they sleep a little longer, he is sure of them, for their destruction is certain.—Testimonies for the Church 1:263. ChS 81.3
In these final hours of probation for the sons of men, when the fate of every soul is so soon to be decided forever, the Lord of heaven and earth expects His church to arouse to action as never before. Those who have been made free in Christ through a knowledge of precious truth, are regarded by the Lord Jesus as His chosen ones, favored above all other people on the face of the earth; and He is counting on them to show forth the praises of Him who hath called them out of darkness into marvelous light. The blessings which are so liberally bestowed, are to be communicated to others. The good news of salvation is to go to every nation, kindred, tongue, and people.—Prophets and Kings, 716, 717. ChS 81.4
Not one in a hundred among us is doing anything beyond engaging in common, worldly enterprises. We are not half awake to the worth of the souls for whom Christ died.—Testimonies for the Church 8:148. ChS 81.5
If the followers of Christ were awake to duty, there would be thousands where there is one today, proclaiming the gospel in heathen lands. And all who could not personally engage in the work, would yet sustain it with their means, their sympathy, and their prayers. And there would be far more earnest labor for souls in Christian countries.—Steps to Christ, 81. ChS 81.6
Thousands enjoy great light and precious opportunities, but do nothing with their influence or their money to enlighten others. They do not even take the responsibility of keeping their own souls in the love of God, that they may not become a burden to the church. Such ones would be a burden and a clog in heaven. For Christ’s sake, for the truth’s sake, for their own sakes, such should arouse and make diligent work for eternity.—The Review and Herald, March 1, 1887. ChS 82.1
The church of Christ may be fitly compared to an army. The life of every soldier is one of toil, hardship, and danger. On every hand are vigilant foes, led on by the prince of the powers of darkness, who never slumbers and never deserts his post. Whenever a Christian is off his guard, this powerful adversary makes a sudden and violent attack. Unless the members of the church are active and vigilant, they will be overcome by his devices. ChS 82.2
What if half the soldiers in an army were idling or asleep when ordered to be on duty; the result would be defeat, captivity, or death. Should any escape from the hands of the enemy, would they be thought worthy of a reward? No; they would speedily receive the sentence of death. And is the church of Christ careless or unfaithful, far more important consequences are involved. A sleeping army of Christian soldiers—what could be more terrible? What advance could be made against the world, who are under the control of the prince of darkness? Those who stand back indifferently in the day of battle, as though they had no interest and felt no responsibility as to the issue of the contest, might better change their course or leave the ranks at once.—Testimonies for the Church 5:394. ChS 82.3
