The US is now reporting twice the numbers China reported where the novel coronavirus first started with experts worried that the US might have started its efforts to combat the spread a little too late.
With 164,253 reported infections, the US is now the new epicenter of the coronavirus. The number of those killed now is at 3,165 people.
The total includes cases from every state, the District of Columbia and several US territories, as well as repatriated cases. Hawaii and Wyoming have not reported a death from coronavirus.
Each day sees more reports of deaths than the previous day. There were more than 500 reports of deaths from coronavirus on Monday, the most death reports in a single day in the United States.

President Trump is now considering more strict measures to reduce social interaction in a bid to fight any further spread.
Yesterday Monday, the president said that saving American lives is more important. “Well, it’s so bad for the economy, but the economy is No. 2 on my list,” Trump said. “First, I want to save a lot of lives.”
He told the media that guidelines on social distancing – encouraging people not to gather in groups of more than 10 and avoid dining out – would remain in force until the end of April, and said they could be “toughened a bit”.
The FDA approved a Trump administration plan to distribute millions of doses of anti-malarial drugs to U.S. hospitals, saying it is worth the risk of trying unproven treatments to slow the disease in seriously ill patients.
