Twitter has limited certain account functionalities for Donald Trump jnr’s account after sharing the viral video of US doctors promoting the US of hydroxychloroquine in the treatment of Covid-19 with the combination of Zinc and Zithromax.
Twitter gave the President’s son a 12 hour timeout from tweeting or retweeting other posts though he could still browse the site and send direct messages.
His spokesman insisted that Twitter had ‘suspended’ the account although twitter in their statement insisted he was not suspended from the platform.
“Twitter suspending Don Jr. for sharing a viral video of medical professionals discussing their views on Hydroxychloroquine is further proof that Big Tech is intent on killing free expression online and is another instance of them committing election interference to stifle Republican voices,” Andy Surabian said.
The viral video from a US doctors press conference, defends the use of hydroxychloroquine, an antimalarial drug, to combat COVID-19 and claims that you do not need a mask, despite broad medical consensus saying masks can significantly slow the spread of the disease.
Trump also shared the video, but because he retweeted it instead of tweeting it his account will not be affected, according to a Twitter spokesperson.
