Pope Francis‘ bombshell endorsement of same-sex civil unions reverberated through the world Thursday, with his comments sparking criticism but also support.
Some cheered the Pope saying its about time the church starts living in the current age of things. That the bible is up for an update especially on the issues of same-sex marriages and unions.
Many, who still hold onto the Biblical foundation of life, Catholics and others were very shocked that the Pope would today turn around to endorse this.
In Philippines, for instance, despite being a devoutly Catholic nation, there is high acceptance of LGBTQ rights in the Philippines, a recent poll has shown. Still, conservative Catholic politicians have resisted legislation to recognize same-sex civil union or marriage fearing the ire of influential church leaders.
Now the President is using the Pope’s endorsement to push the church to endorse same-sex marriages.”Even the most conservative of the country’s Catholic lawmakers should “no longer have a basis” to object to them,” the President’s spokesman, Harry Roque, said.
Now on the foreground is the catholic gay community, and to be honest, the general christian ‘gay community’ is celebrating that finally they are being taken back into the church ‘officially’.
The Pope’s statement will influence laws and policies that would support same-sex marriages even in churches.
But the background is what true christians must not loose focus on. Is it not curious that of all church leaders, this particular Pope has made it his sole duty to try and unite the entire world, not politically but religiously?
Using his religious position, he has sought some kind of agreement with many different faiths of the world, including Muslims, evangelicals, methodists, orthodoxs, buddhist, atheists among many and now, the gay community.
He is not seeking to teach them, or bring them to repentance to one true faith, but he professes that all the different groups worship the same god, using different paths to the same god.
Exo 20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
The Pope is fulfiling a huge part of Biblical prophecy in Revelations 13.
We can not bring sin into the church and hope for redemption, its just deception.
How shall a man be just with God? How shall the sinner be made righteous? It is only through Christ that we can be brought into harmony with God, with holiness; but how are we to come to Christ? Many are asking the same question as did the multitude on the Day of Pentecost, when, convicted of sin, they cried out, “What shall we do?” The first word of Peter’s answer was, “Repent.” Acts 2:37, 38. At another time, shortly after, he said, “Repent, . . . and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19. {SC 23.1}
Repentance includes sorrow for sin and a turning away from it. We shall not renounce sin unless we see its sinfulness; until we turn away from it in heart, there will be no real change in the life. {SC 23.2}
Every act of transgression, every neglect or rejection of the grace of Christ, is reacting upon yourself; it is hardening the heart, depraving the will, benumbing the understanding, and not only making you less inclined to yield, but less capable of yielding, to the tender pleading of God’s Holy Spirit. {SC 33.2}
