CNN Anchor Don Lemon has sparked outrage in the Christian community for his comments to fellow anchor Chris Cuomo, during a discussion about the Black Lives Matter movement and calls to get rid of statues of persons who supported racial discrimination.
Don Lemon who is living openly as gay and is engaged to a man, his ‘boyfriend’ Tim Malone, waded into the moral character of our Lord Jesus Christ to claim that Jesus was not perfect while here earth.
“Jesus Christ, if that’s who you believe, if that’s who you believe in, admittedly was not perfect when he was here on this earth.” Watch the video below;

In context, his discussion meant that the founding fathers of America were all not perfect and should not be vilified as they are currently for those instances when they traded slaves or promoted racial discrimination, but instead be looked at with admiration for the ‘good’ acts they did in establishing the United States.
We cannot go into the political narrative of his discussion, but what is deeply disturbing is his ignorance of the principle tenets of the Bible and the faith of Christians. To allege that Jesus Christ, The Son of God was not perfect is similar to nullifying the sacrifice on the cross.
Leviticus 22:21 When a man offers a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord to fulfill a special vow or for a freewill offering, of the herd or of the flock, it must be perfect to be accepted; there shall be no defect in it.
The sacrifice of Christ had to be perfect and without any
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
1Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
1Peter 1:19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
Only the spotless blood of a lamb without sacrifice could bear the price that Christ did for the sins of the world.
At His weakest moment Jesus prayed for the cross to be taken away, but again, accepted the will of God that the sacrifice had to be done.
Mark 14:36 And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.
John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
2Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
The comments by Don Lemon, in ignorance are tantamount to blasphemy, one of the most serious charges in the Christian realm.
Psa_74:10 O God, how long shall the adversary reproach? shall the enemy blaspheme thy name for ever?
Jas_2:7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
How was it blasphemy?
Joh 10:30 I and my Father are one.
Joh 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
Joh 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
Joh 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
The Jews wanted to stone Christ for saying ‘I and my Father are one’. Because in their understanding (or ingorance) no human could be God, as perfect as God. But Jesus was no human. Jesus is God.
Now for someone to claim that Christ offered himself as a sacrifice ‘imperfect’ implies Christ was not really God and that his sacrifice on the cross was not worth it – hence the blasphemy.
It is unfortunate that his colleague Chris Cuomo, a Catholic, nodded in agreement.
