Daniel 7 is one of the most amazing prophetic passages in the Bible that came true with absolute accuracy and detail, and considering these prophecies were being given more than 4,000 years to when they become fulfiled really speaks of the timelessness of the Bible.
Daniel here is shown what would be of the present and future Kingdoms of the world. by Kingdom, the context here is that a government, political power or organization that has reaches across the world.
The prophecies of Daniel 7 are also very well synchronized with those of Daniel 2 regarding the Kingdoms that would rule the earth. Whereas Daniel 2 focused on the generality and the overall timeliness/successions of the Kingdoms, Daniel 7 focused a lot more on the last Kingdom, the fourth.
Would you believe it? We have generally biblically speaking been under 4 general Kingdoms.
Thus he said, The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces. Dan 7:23
So technically the world today is really under this fourth Kingdom, however it is divided in sorts. This we will cover on another topic. But Daniel is given specifics about the rise and actions of this power.
1. It starts out as a “little horn,” smaller than the other horns”
"Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things."
2. It arises “after them” but “among them”.
"Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings."
3. It becomes “more stout than his fellows, thus the other powers”
"Daniel 7:20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows."
4. It is “diverse from the first, thus the kingdom it came out from”
"Daniel 7:24 And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings."
5. He has “eyes like the eyes of man,” signifying man’s wisdom.
"Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things."
6. He “shall subdue three kings,” and pluck “three of the first horns… by the roots,”
7. He “shall speak great words against the most High” thus shall blaspheme God Almighty.
"Daniel 7:8 I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns plucked up by the roots: and, behold, in this horn were eyes like the eyes of man, and a mouth speaking great things. 7:20 And of the ten horns that were in his head, and of the other which came up, and before whom three fell; even of that horn that had eyes, and a mouth that spake very great things, whose look was more stout than his fellows. 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."
8. And he makes “war with the saints,” “shall wear out the saints,” and “prevailed against them,” thus God’s people will persecuted and killed by this evil power.
"Daniel 7:21 I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."
9. And “think to change times and laws,”
"Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."
10. They “shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.” Thus 1260 days in Bible prophecy which is 1260 years because a day stands for 1 year in prophecy(Ezekiel 4:6, Numbers 14:34).
"Daniel 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time."
11. This power will last until it is “destroyed” just before God sets up His kingdom. This power will be ended when the Christ kingdom, represented as the stone comes and will destroy the earthly kingdom and set up a kingdom which shall never end or be destroyed.
The only power which fits all these identifying marks is the Roman Catholic Church system, which rose to prominence as the Roman empire declined, and which enjoyed a special influence over the minds of men between the sixth and eighteenth centuries.
Daniel 7:26 But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion, to consume and to destroy it unto the end.
The Catholic Church is what is now referred to as Papal Rome. At the time of Jesus, Romanism was more of a political government than a religious one. Since they rejected Christianity and Romans at the time worshipped idols, they were referred to as Pagan Rome. Only after Catholicism and Papacy did the title now change to Papal Rome which in effect is the same Pagan Rome but with a mix of some religious elements in it
Recent events have proven how powerful this system has become, now bringing together different religious groups and beliefs under one banner of ‘ecumenism’ and the belief that all the different religions and faiths at the end worship the same ‘god’ so why not work together.
“Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. 18:5 For her sins have reached unto heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities.”
